SOUNDER SKILLS 2
PROGRAM TOUR
Module 1 is all about strategy. It’s in Module 1 that you are introduced to the concepts required to understand and use your fish finder in the most efficient and productive way. The first thing we cover is the BIG PICTURE – using your unit for the right APPLICATION. Are you searching, assessing or observing. Then we look at the basic concepts that determine where in relation to your boat, are the fish or structure.
INCLUSIONS
Module 2 is about getting the best picture. And by best picture I don’t mean getting the prettiest cleanest blue on your screen. This is not art class. It’s getting the unit to show you a TRUE picture of what is down there based on simple criteria and a step-by-step approach. It will save you endless frustration fiddling with your set and less time fishing. Remember the key is to see fish when there ARE fish and to see big fish when they ARE big fish.
INCLUSIONS;
Module 3: Practical Use. This is the pointy end where all the hard work pays off. At the end of this module you’ll be able to:

Please note: this is an optional extra. In order to keep the cost of the course low, we have separated out our Inner Circle community and the main course because some people are not interested in the community aspect.
But for those that are, let me just say, this community is developing into the most amazing resource. As they say… A rising tide lifts all boats.
WHAT'S THE COMMUNITY LIKE?
SOUNDER SKILLS 2 PRIVATE STUDY GROUP REPORTS
The goal of Sounder Skills 2 is simple. Help you put more fish in the boat in less time. Like Barra Basics, the inventory of information within the private group is another pot of gold and from complete novices, right through to seasoned sounder users, SS2 has something for everybody. While the group isn’t so much “fishing” focused, a lot of technical information can be found and puts you in charge of your own fishing destiny!
SS2 allows YOU to be the guide among your family and friends and puts you in the box seat to finding new ground and fishing untouched waters.
Understanding your fish finding equipment is the master key to unlocking all the doors to any and all species, so if you’re really serious about taking your fishing to the next level, then this is the must have course in the RMF stable. Inshore, offshore, anywhere, it’s all there and considering how it affordable it is, all I can say is just do it. The knowledge base of technical advice is there to set you on your way to catching more fish, so if you’ve been on the fence, dive in and be assured that Ryan and the other knowledgeable members are there to assist you in any and every way possible.
A standout member among the group is Keir Gillam. Keir has absolutely stretched and tested the limits of his gear and is quickly becoming somewhat of a deep-water expert in the waters off Tasmania. It’s not often that the average angler will venture to the depths that Keir does, but his progression and willingness to share his information is second to none. If that’s your cup of tea, SS2 is the place to take a sip and Keir’s valuable insights are assured to fast-track your own deeper-water success.
Keir Gillam- Bluefin Tuna On Fly!
It may have been stated before, but if a better understanding of your fish finding equipment is what you’re looking for, Sounder Skills 2 is the course that can take you from the novice angler to achieving many more of your fishing goals, all in the one place.
The extensive database of information in the private group relating to successfully using your sounder is worth the entry fee alone. You could spend upwards of a week or more searching through the extensive information, there’s also a growing list of practical use examples to read through about how people are putting their skills to use to put more fish in the boat! And at the end of the day, that’s what understanding your fish finder is all about, making your time on the water more productive and putting those fish you’ve always wanted to target, over the side of the boat. Sounder Skills 2 is arguably the only place in the world that empowers you with the right understanding, putting you in control to make that happen.
During the last few months, Sounder Skills members were also in the running to win some of the latest fish finding equipment from Garmin. The secret length competition saw anglers worldwide share their exceptional catches and provide further insight into just how Sounder Skills 2 has helped them target a variety of species. The competition closed at the end of May and the lucky winner walked away with over $4000 worth of prizes. That lucky recipient happened to be Tom Peacocke, whose submission was of 2 Barramundi he had caught with his partner.
Tom wrote: “Since doing the course, my main goal was to get my girlfriend onto a legal Barra. Had been a long time coming!! SS2 helped me identify an area the fish would be holding and to utilise a side scan to mark the fish. Needless to say, she was pretty stoked with the result, more than 15 fish boated that day!”
Congratulations Tom on your effort and I’m sure the extra equipment will be put to very good use! It just goes to show how important having that understanding really is when it comes to your fishing and how enjoyable your own time on the water can be if you have the knowledge presented in Sounder Skills 2.
TOM PEACOCKE’S PARTNER WITH THE COMPETITION WINNING FISH
While I touched briefly on my own experience locating schools of Jewfish that the Jumpinpin is renowned for, ill share a bit more insight into just how much time and effort has gone into making these fish a regular, viable target. And just how valuable Sounder Skills 2 has been to see it come to fruition.
I personally have only been using fish-finding equipment for as little as 3-4 years. Initially, when sounding the area, it was evident that I really had no idea what I was looking at, or what I was supposed to be looking for. The area is littered with coffee rock ledges, washouts and undulations, throwing multiple shadows and forever leaving me second-guessing.
As I became more experienced, I started to piece together just what that underwater image was telling me and at the very least was starting to make out how the area was structured. Mind you, this has been over the course of a number of trips over a number of years!
The fact was, that with all my second-guessing, I just wasn’t seeing these fish at all until recently. I’m fortunate to be a member of all of Ryan’s course groups and was able to come up with a new strategy as to when I should be timing my search efforts. And sure enough, there they were! They stand out rather significantly against the structure and finally have confirmation on what I need to be seeing before I start fishing.
It can take time and without the course to reference back to, I think I would still be taking a “hit and hope” approach. Where now I’m confident that it’s only a matter of time before fishing turns to catching by simply having a better understanding of interpreting my sounder images.

Ryan Moody started his fishing career on the reef boats before catching bucket list marlin for the likes of champion heavy tackle angler Johnno Johnson, INXS and the King of Sweden. Branching out in the late 80’s to guided barramundi fishing, Ryan has made a name for himself as a Big Barramundi specialist and to date has put clients onto over 2000 metre plus barra.
Thirty years of daily on-water fish finder interpretation, from 2 metres deep to over 400 metres, in many different conditions, has taught him to find his own spots and regularly catch trophy fish. People are amazed at his ability to name the fish species and size prior to capture, and understand things that others can’t. Hence his nickname – the fish whisperer.
With attitudes changing from ‘keep all you can’ towards catch and release, Ryan has decided to share his extensive knowledge and hopefully inspire people of all ages to get out from behind the computer screen/TV and into the fishing outdoors lifestyle he has spent his life perfecting.
ABOUT FISH SMARTER
During Ryan’s charter years he kept his secrets close to his heart (like most anglers do!). But with the death of a good friend, came the realization that he wants to leave a legacy. One of fishing with strategy, rather than relying on luck. Ryan has the experience & knowledge, and his marine biologist wife, Karen, has the ability to dissect it and put it together into easy, understandable lessons. Fish Smarter courses all are built around the philosophy of fishing smarter, not harder.

What a difference a year makes when focused on a fishing strategy. A couple of years back I’d catch 4 or 5 snappers and the same number of Dhu Fish over a year travelling 1000 kilometres from Dunsborough to Shark Bay to catch snapper in numbers. In the past year, I’ve focused on local ground 10 – 20minutes from the boat ramp. SS2 helped me to identify rubble patches amongst the seagrass and now have an 86% success rate on targeted species (Pinkies, Duies and Baldies). These foraging areas are where we picked up 61 Pink Snapper (48 over 70cm) 12 Dhuies and 2 Baldies.
Thanks, Ryan you have changed my fishing forever!

Quality over quantity on today’s charter after using new knowledge learnt from SS2. Only halfway through Ryan Moody’s Sounder Skills 2 course and it has already taught me so many things. Ledge, fish and general sounder interpretation. Fish position, unique features of the sounder and when to use them makes life so much easier. Credit where credit is due. Cheers Ryan.

I wasn’t sure how much I would get out of Sounder Skills 2 because I mostly fish for bream in depths under 20 ft… I was wrong! Sounder Skills 2 definitely helps with understanding how to set up and interpret the different modes on your sounder. I was happy with the prompt response from Ryan on the Inner Circle Facebook group well. Thanks guys!
IS SOUNDER SKILLS 2 RIGHT FOR YOU?
Over the years, we’ve listened to THOUSANDS of anglers who struggle interpreting their sounder correctly.
And there’d be millions more that don’t even know they’re doing it wrong (blaming fish stocks or not the right bite period instead).
Well… we created this course to handle those struggles.
We’re confident it can help if you’ve ever said anything like:
ARE THEY FISH OR ROCKS?
WHAT iS ACTUALLY DOWN THERE IN TERMS OF BOTTOM STRUCTURE? MUD, REEF, SAND?
WHAT FREQUENCY DO I USE? I TRY SPLIT SCREEN BUT THEY SHOW DIFFERENT THINGS!
CAN I DIFFERENTIATE FISH AND WEED ON ROUGH DAYS OR IN DEEP WATER?
Where are the fish in relation to my boat and how do I anchor on them?
My sounder won't read at speed. What should I do?
HOW MUCH MONEY HAVE YOU INVESTED IN FISHING SO FAR?
BOATS, FUEL, ELECTRONICS, LURES, BRAID, RODS, REELS, MAGAZINES, TRAVEL, CAST NETS....
SERIOUSLY, YOU HAVE PROBABLY SPENT IN EXCESS OF $30,000 AND WILL CONTINUE TO SPEND $, WITHOUT HAVING THE TIME TO FULLY TRIAL AND TEST YOUR METHODS!
THE BEST WAY TO MAKE THE MOST OF THOSE INVESTMENTS IS WITH KNOWLEDGE!
OR, YOU COULD GO ON CHARTER AND GET A GUIDE TO HELP YOU OUT....
BUT YOU’LL ONLY LEARN ABOUT THE CONDITIONS AT THAT TIME AND they won't have a huge range of transducers on their boat to give you a broad overview.
Plus (and I don't mean to brag) but many charter operators don't even know this stuff.
Reality is, without a good understanding of what you seeing you'll never catch good fish consistently.
Especially in rough weather or as you go deeper.
So why not take a shortcut?
And use the information compiled by Ryan over years on the water.
It’s a no brainer really.

Keen to begin?
Look for the green BUY NOW button to get started!
We cater for both beginners and advanced students.
While the majority of our students will have used fish finders for a while, I envisage a great deal of success with absolute beginners and here’s why… You will learn to think and behave like a top performer right from the start. You will avoid costly mistakes and be confident you are on the right track.
Possibly not. Please read this carefully.
Obviously we cannot know if your location holds fish nor can we guarantee that you will find fish on your first trip.
What we do provide are the tools to know what are fish and what are not, and how to optimize your set to interpret what is there accurately. To break the mould and stand out. To find your own spots, instead of fishing like everybody else.
But it will involve time motoring around staring at your sounder, watching the course several times and practicing what we preach.
Our mission is to help you realise your full potential and achieve your dreams of fishing success.
Unfortunately, due the easily shareable nature of this content, we do not offer a refund other than when required by Australian Competition and Consumer Commission Law.
Even if you don’t end up using it straight away, you still get to keep & use it over and again. Ryan’s strategies have been tested and proven throughout his career and again by our student’s results.
It’s a unique, generous offering, and you’d be hard pressed to find as much content, and knowledge in a very small priced program. When you invest in your self with a Fish Smarter membership, your purchase is final.
The subscriber INNER CIRCLE is a group coaching program.
While Ryan will be active in the private community, we do not provide individual private feedback for each student e.g. email or messenger. We have created an amazing community in the study group and endeavour to answer all questions. Not only is Ryan in there regularly, but we have experienced mentors to guide you, as well as input from past students and new videos posted regularly. There will be plenty of opportunities for feedback to ensure you are on the right track. We WANT you to succeed and will do our best to make that happen, however, this is not a one-one coaching program with Ryan.
Look… the program will only work if you work.
If you expect Sounder Skills 2 to magically solve all your problems and have fish jump right in your boat first trip, then please do not sign up. This is not the fishing equivalent to a get rich quick scheme.
Plus, we actually care that you implement the materials and live your life to the fullest, be it fishing or otherwise. We want to make the world a better place by getting people off their couches and into the environment by providing knowledge and thus, confidence.
If you do the work you will get results. We are challenging you to think and act differently. We have put a tremendous amount of time and energy into this program. You need to match that energy.
We have zero tolerance for tyre kickers and people with outrageous expectations. If you do the work, we believe you will find the program extremely valuable.
The primary difference between all of our Fish Smarter premium programs and other educational fishing products is that it’s not a just a series of tips strung together.
Sounder Skills 2 is a well structured course held together by a framework and key strategies. They are the exact strategies Ryan Moody has used to find and fish thousands of locations, catching many reef fish. Students that have taken the time to implement these strategies (and not revert to old habits) are catching good fish and finding new spots regularly.
I’ll level with you. To become one of the 20% of fishers catching 80% of the fish, it’s hard.
That’s why I’m putting together our Fish Smarter courses. It’s everything I wish I had when I started my charter business. But you do have a couple of options available.
You could try and figure it out yourself.
And you know what? With 40 hours per week of time and several years of trial and error, you could probably do it.
Or you could take the short cut.
You see, I spent the last 30 years learning the ins and outs of finding and catching big fish, building a profitable and successful inshore and offshore fishing charter business. And I’m sharing everything I know about fish finders inside this course.
As John C. Maxwell said, “A wise person learns from his mistakes. A wiser one learns from others’ mistakes. But the wisest of all learns from other’s successes.”
Let’s get into this one as I know that’s one of the questions a lot of people ask themselves. It’s a great question worth addressing…
To start, our courses are not just a mish mash of tips and tricks. They are well-structured courses that take years to make as we not only cover many scenarios, but compile the information into simple one-page flowcharts that makes a complex topic, with many variables, easy to understand. Our flowchart is what really joins the dots for anglers.
We also offer access for life which means you can go over the course again and again and we include any bonuses. We do this as there is so much detail in each course, that you’ll learn something new each time. This is a cost we need to factor in.
Many of our students also admit that they have spent many thousands on boats, hooks, line, fuel, rods and reels and lures. Only to have intermittent success. Our courses maximise your investment in these items and make the money you have spent on them worthwhile. Many people find this very valuable.
Then there is the many years of blood sweat and tears as a charter operator in the hot sun it has taken Ryan to learn the information. And the ten years at university I spent doing marine biology so I could create the courses from his life experience, in an easy to understand way. These are a combination of skills that not everybody has which makes them valuable. Especially when used to assist anglers catch the fish of their dreams and make memories with their family.
We have ten staff to pay, marketing expenses and GST, boat costs, website costs – all adding up to nearly six figures each month. Not that our expenses are your problem, they are not – however the aim of a business is to sell a product or service (in this case information) to assist people with a problem and do so for a profit.
We have been charging courses at equivalent prices for over a decade and have over 30,000 students. Many of our students admit that the biggest hesitation to doing a course was the price (so you are not alone there). However, once having done a course, many admit in our feedback forms that we should have charged more! And around 65% go on to do more courses. I guess they must have found value in the course to buy another.
Interestingly we have had several beta testers run through our two newest courses – drawn from a random draw. Each of the beta testers that had not previously done a course with us admitted they were shocked at the information inside – and have said they will purchase another course with us. It seems once you do one course, you’ll understand why it’s priced as it is. You can read over 800 reviews here: https://www.ryanmoodyfishing.com/reviews/
Then there are the private study groups. Most of our courses have a free study group where you can chat to Ryan directly to get your questions answered and connect with other students. This takes up quite a bit of his time and if you add up access for life – that is a factor in the cost.
Ok well that was the long answer to why we price our courses as we do. We personally don’t believe they are ‘expensive’ for the value we provide. But of course expensive is a relative term. We believe they truly are great value for money if your goal is to improve your catches in the shortest possible time. A much better investment than new rods and reels.
Feel free to email us on the topic if you have any further questions.
And here are some tips to break the ice with the Minister of War and Finance regarding why you want to do one of our courses – Get the family on board here.

I was a bit worried Sounder Skills 2 might be a bit too far above my head but found it was explained well. I liked the infield videos explaining the settings and what you were looking at. Definitely would recommend Sounder Skills 2 – It is easy to follow and the self-paced method of learning suits me with work and kids. I am loving the Inner Circle as I get the opportunity to ask questions, but most of all, reading other people’s questions teaches me more and makes me think of things I wouldn’t have thought of myself.

I was a little hesitant at first, mainly because I was thinking do I really need this… Boy was I WRONG. I highly recommended Sounder Skills 2. It gives you more of an understanding of what’s really going on. You may know how to read your sounder but this course will either clarify what you think you know plus add a lot more detail for you, or it will give you a whole new outlook on things – like it has for me. Sounder Skills 2 is fantastic. it’s a credit to Ryan and Karen.

I knew 0% on how to use my sonar, side scan & down scan but now I know what I’m looking at & how to use it. I loved every second & piece of information on every module. Ryan – you explain things in simple terms and cut all the technical rubbish out. Your years of experience laid out in the format you have created is brilliant. The Inner Circle is very helpful, thanks for answering all my questions Ryan and keep up the good work.
