Project managing major boat repairs

Major boat repair and diamond challenge

When it comes to big issues like a major boat repair – leave it to the woman!

After learning of our split water tank, we were absolutely gutted.

Our long planned trip south to the Swains would therefore need to be aborted.  And sadly, Mood Swings returned to the Big Boat shed in Cairns for the major boat repair.

But a few hours into the journey, Karen decides we quit too early and wants to make a few calls.

She got all fired up and the challenge was set!

Repair the major boat issues within two weeks and get a pair of diamond earrings!

Now there are two things you should know about Karen.

  1. She is super determined (and a big driver of the business and these videos)
  2. She is also super lucky.

I had a funny feeling I was soon to be shelling out for a pair of diamond earrings.

She also worked as a ranger in charge for Marine Parks for many years so has a ton of contacts in the industry.

It didn’t take long for her to be cooking up some plans to have the major boat repairs done sooner than later.

Watch the video as we push to find a repairer without having to wait months!

Major boat repairs? Ask a woman!

After just a few phone calls while we were anchored in the mouth of the Seymour River, Karen manages to find an available (and highly recommended) shipwright willing to come to Lucinda and assess the boat.

Rare mud lobster
A rare mud lobster sighted while chatting at the jetty. These guys are native to the area but often not seen as they are nocturnal. Digging around and aerating the roots of mangroves helps rejuvinate these systems.  But they are a pest to aquaculture as they degrade levies and lead to collapsed banks.
