Well it’s that time of year again… School holiday time.
And if you are like me and you don’t like leaving the kids to entertain themselves for hours, even days playing computer games and x-box, fishing is a great way to get them into the great outdoors.
Some of the most fun I have with my kids is catching bait.
Kids love emptying the castnet, grabbing the slippery bait fish as they try to escape, and best of all now that they are growing up, carrying the heavy bait bucket haha.
For the littlies, a great time can be had catching mangrove crabs on the sheltered beaches and bays in behind the mangroves.
Best thing is it is also cool with a bit of shade and a great place to have a break from the boat.
Actually you don’t even need a boat to take advantage of this fun activity.
And I show you exactly how easy it is to get the kids involved catching these little crabs in the next video.
Although please beware of estuarine crocodiles and be sure to stay well away from the waters edge.
