The Duke Islands in Central Queensland are a fishing mecca!
Remote enough not to see too much fishing pressure, yet close enough to Stanage Bay Boat ramp to allow access by adventurous boaties.
The Duke Islands are approximately 20 miles north east from Stanage Bay so pick your weather if you’re in a smaller boat.
There is accommodation on the largest island (Marble Island) and access via an airstrip.
The Duke Island archipelago consists of three privately owned islands – Hunter Island, Tynemouth Island and Marble Island.
You can fly in and stay on the island, or bring your own boat. As we did.
This area of central Queensland has huge tidal flow and can be a real challenge for fishing.
As you’ll see in our video: Fishing the Duke Islands (Part 2).
