Boat issues in Cardwell – Cairns to Hinchinbrook Island leg.

We didn’t get far!

Boat issues in Cardwell have us stuck in Hinchinbrook island for the night!

We knew crusing the Queensland coast in our boat Mood Swings was going to be an adventure.

But we did think we’d get further than day 2 before running into mechanical issues.

Boat issues in Cardwell

Travelling from Cairns along the Queensland Coast to Swain Reefs off Central Queesland was the goal.

However boat issues in Cardwell have pulled us up waiting for parts.

Everything was going well until we tried to start the starboard motor. No go!

Unsure if it was a starter motor or battery we did some troubleshooting.

Turns out the problem was caused by a mag switch on the starter motor.

Thankfully we used to live in Cardwell and Dee from Port Hinchinbrook Marine was able to sort us out with the part.

Fixed with love?

Adding insult to injury, Karen my wife helping with the troubleshooting fixed the situation.

According to her, our boat issues in Cardwell were fixed with love!

She turned the key and the bloody thing started.

But not wanting to take any chances of a repeat while far offshore, we decided to fix the problem.

Barra for lunch while we are waiting.

While waiting for our boat issues in Cardwell to be sorted by the arriving mag switch.

We decided to do a spot of barra fishing, hoping to pick up a schoolie for lunch.

Join us in Episode 3 of our trip as we try for Moroccan barra for lunch.
